RELIGION OVERVIEW

This section of the FSPP website is, I believe, long overdue. It is something I have thought about for a long time. The decision to go ahead with it was not made lightly. To be honest, there are risks inherent in creating this section. One fear is that someone looking for a website on ghosts and hauntings may be turned off when the see a religious, specifically Christian section. On the other hand, those who are looking foe a religious site may be turned off by the paranormal section. So there are risks involved. However, in the end, I have to follow my heart and my heart says the time has come.

I have been asked a few times how I can be religious and hunt ghosts? The reverse of that question has also been asked. In truth, the paranormal, be it ghosts or any other area and religion are hardly mutually exclusive. If you have read many of the articles found in this site, you hear a lot about prayer and holy water when it comes to hauntings. There is an entire section devoted to demonology as well. Guess what? You cannot have one without the other. So really, there should be no surprise to find a Christian section on the site.

So why the trepidation? Well, I have a ministry, which you will read about as this section grows. However, the simple truth of the matter is that the ministry has been an area of contention. Some, including family members refuse to acknowledge it. It has ended or permanently altered friendships. All of that led me to wonder if it was a wise move to expand this site to include religion. When the smoke cleared, it was simple: It was the right thing to do. And so, it comes to pass.

Some religions or sects of them rule out the possibility of ghosts existing, let alone engaging in contact with those of us on this plane. The Catholics, and I am not about to bash them, believe that when we die, we go to Heaven, Hell, Purgatory or if un-baptized, Limbo. That leaves no room for spirits who may be trapped here for any number of reasons. Thus, according to their belief system, anyone being plagued by a spirit are being confronted by a demon. Yet if that is the case, why do they go to such great lengths to bury exorcism away in some closet? There is a need for caution when they are approached by someone. There is no shortage of mentally ill people around who believe they are possessed. (Some may be.) Also, every time a movie dealing with the subject comes out, such as "The Exorcism of Emily Rose," Archdioceses around the world are flooded with calls by individuals believing they or someone they know are possessed. (Again, some may be.) Obviously the Church cannot investigate every claim they get. However, many well presented cases are turned away. Being a case worker, someone who tried to help the afflicted, I am well versed in the myriad of road blocks the Church sets up. While some of it is understandable, people suffer needlessly. I am sure the Church would like to divorce itself from belief in the existence of demons and devils.

The truth of the matter is that they do exist and so do human spirits. When people argue the point with me, I always say the same thing. If God gives us free will while we are alive, why would he deny it when we die. Death is not the end all; it is simple a change of energy. We go from one plane to another. If this life was all we had, what a monumental waste of time. No, there is much more after death, more than we can imagine. If we live our lives right, we will indeed find Heaven. So why create this section? Because I love God the Father, God the Son and God, the Holy Spirit.
