T Talisman- Powerful object, usually an amulet believed to bring about good luck or protection. Tarot Cards- Picture cards that are used to predict future events. This is a form of divination. These cards consist of 22 major arcana cards and 56 minor ones. Practitioners believe that these cards can reveal the secrets of man and the universe. Telekinesis- Originally, telekinesis was regarded as the same as psychokinesis, or the movement of objects by use of one's mind. However, using today's definition, this would be the movement of objects projected into ones mind. In other words, if someone thought a wall was moving, this would be TK. The wall is not actually moving but that is what is being projected into ones mind. Telepathy- Communication of one's mind with another by means other than the normal senses. The basic theory is that one transmits thoughts at a certain frequency which can then be picked up by someone else who is on that same frequency. This can be intentional or unintentional. It is believed that some people have the ability to change frequencies to adjust from one person to another. Teleportation- The movement of objects or people from one place to another by supernatural means. Tetragram- A magical diagram in the shape of a 4 pointed star. Thoughtography- The ability to photograph mental images. Parapsychologists believe that pictures of what appear to be spirits are images from the photographer's mind being implanted on the film. Transfiguration- The changing of features or other characteristics without a natural cause. This is sometimes seen in cases of demonic possession as well as in hypnotic age regression. Transmigration- Reincarnation as a different species. For example, a person who reincarnates as an animal is said to have “transmigrated.” Transvection- Superstition of witches being able to fly. They were said to do this either on animals who flew through the air or the popular belief of riding on brooms. Triune- Three in one. In Christian circles, it represents God the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. In human terms, it means the body, mind and spirit or soul. Twilight Paralysis- A state where the consciousness gives way to the unconscious. During this time, a person may be physically paralyzed except for breathing but still be conscious. |
