M Magic Circle- A circle drawn by magicians or occultists to protect them from the spirits or demons they evoke. This is usually a pentacle, a five pointed star with a circle around it. In theory, the conjurer cannot be hurt by the demon he evoked if he stays within the circle. Magus- A philosopher, divine, seer or magician. Malachite- Used to preserve the cradle of an infant as a protection from spells. Malevolent- Wishing evil or harm towards others. A malevolent spirit is one that wishes to hurt man. Malicious- A spirit that is evil or spiteful. These spirits will destroy things of personal or financial value for the sake of hurting others. These spirits can be of the human or inhuman variety. Malignant- Having an evil disposition towards others. Anything vile or corrupting. Manifestation- The appearance or taking form of an entity. Can also mean the outbreak of activity. (See outward manifestation.) Materialization- A formation by a spirit of a temporary physical organization visible and palpable which can touch material objects. Meditation- To reach a state of deep relaxation designed to clear the mind stress or tension. Opening oneself to ambient energy. Meditation is also a form of self-hypnosis or autohypnosis. Medium- A psychic through whom spirits can communicate. Mediums have the ability to discern spirits however, many who also have discernment abilities would not be considered mediums because they lack the ability to communicate with spirits. There are two types of mediums, light and deep trance. Also known as a sensitive. Mesemerism- Another term for hypnosis. A sleep-like trance. Metagnomy- Knowledge acquired through cryptesthesia; that is without use of the five senses. Metagraphology- Psychometric power that differs from graphology as it does not use any form of writing. By this method, the person can tell about events which are past, present or future. Metaphysics- Derived from the Latin word “meta” which means “beyond,” metaphysics would literally mean that which is beyond the laws of physics. In short, it is the study of psychical research. Miracles- Occurrence of something good which could not have come about without the help of the Divine. Miracles have been recorded throughout history. Monotheism- The belief that there is only one God although He may go by different names. Myth- A belief in something which cannot be proven. Folklore. Mythology- The study of myths. Mythological- Belief or study of myths. Anything to do with myths. |
