Interview With A Psychic- Michelle Layumas

Q: You hear the word “psychic” bandied about and it seems to be an all-encompassing word. So, my first question for you is what does being “psychic” mean to you?

A: To me, being a psychic means to be intuitive, emotional and spiritually inclined.

Q: At what point in your life did you realize that maybe there was something a little different about you?

A: Honestly, ever since I can remember. As a child, I started out with prophetic dreams. I would dream about something and it would come true.

Q: So, you feel that this ability is a gift?

A: Very much so, yes.

Q: I don’t know? It is a powerful thing. In your mind, is this ability a blessing or a curse?

A: Both, it seems at times. I am such an emotional person. It is my biggest asset but it is also my downfall.

Q: Why do you feel that way? What does it do for you?

A: Well, emotions, I think, are what makes us intuitive and at the same time, vulnerable. It allows me to be emotional and sensitive to the divine mind of this universe. At the same time, vulnerability is a physical state. It is really the ego. We always worry about what others will think. Sometimes, it is hard to push that away. This adds to my life yet another quandary, but realizing ego is to me, linked to negativity, it’s hard to be intuitive and be negative, so you push it aside.

Q: So growing up, you worried about what others though of your abilities?

A: Yes, of course I did. It took a long time to get past that.

Q: It is said that everyone has psychic abilities to some extent, although there are different degrees of development. Do you agree with that?

A: Yes. God did not give this to me or just a select few. It is like free will. Everyone has it. We all have this beautiful gift.

Q: Do you work at refining your gift or is it all natural?

A: Both. As I’ve said, as a child, I had prophetic dreams but I did not understand what it was or why it happened to me. Because of some emotional upsets in my family, I shut it off for a while but then as I reached puberty, my curiosity really is what brought it back to me. And yes, I work at it as well.

Q: Can anyone then develop their own abilities somewhat?

A: I believe so, yes. I have been a student from birth and I shall continue to be until my spirit leaves this physical body. One word: study. I started learning from anything and everything. I learned from Ouija boards, tarot cards, books, tapes… anything on the subject. It seems to me, the more knowledge you investigate, the more responsibility you are given.

Q: Do you ever try to use your abilities on haunting cases?

A: Yes I have and actually like investigating hauntings. I am fascinated and always have been, but it is also like hands on training for me. There is always something to be learned.

Q: All right. I have to ask you this: Many people believe that a person who is psychic is never afraid when you come across a ghost. Is that true or do you find that there are times when you are facing something that scares you a little?

A: A little? Are you kidding? When I first had visions, I was absolutely petrified. Only, unlike the person in the scary movies who freeze in time, I’ll tell you, I high-tailed it out of there. The problem is the vision is in your mind, not necessarily in the room. In bad haunting situations, everybody is frightened whether they are psychic or not.

Q: When you first go to a house, can you tell if a spirit is present?

A: Most of the time, yes. Sometimes they (the spirit realm) can move to a higher vibration and I do not detect them.

(Editors note: The trouble with psychic gifts such as Michelle and others possess is that there is no fool proof way to test their ability. For example, I can sometimes feel when spirits are present and I have been proven correct on many occasions. However, there may well have been times where spirits were present but I did not feel them. It is like trying to prove a negative. It cannot be done. We know when it works but we have no way of knowing when it doesn’t work, if that ever happens.)

Q: Can you tell if it is a good or a bad spirit?

A: Yes. For me, when it feels light and loving and good, it is good. When it feels heavy, gloomy and I get a feeling in my stomach, that’s bad.

Q: So it is sometime an actual physical reaction?

A: Yes, especially when there are bad spirits around.

Q: Can you tell if it is a human spirit or one that is inhuman?

A: Yes. You can tell by the different vibrations and how they feel their energy.

Q: How do you know from the different vibrations?

A: A human spirit feels familiar whether it is friendly or not. Celestial spirits feel high and light. They feel really good. The demonic spirits feel low. With the bad ones, it is very negative.

Q: Do you believe that you can use your gift to help spirits who are stuck, for whatever reason, on this physical plane?

A: Yes and I have. Most of the spirits who are stuck earthbound are very frightened and more often than not, they do not know they are dead.

Q: In your opinion, why do spirits get stuck on this earth plane?

A: Well, as I said, sometimes they don’t know they are dead, as crazy as that sounds. Sometimes they are simply not ready to go. They may be afraid of death and its consequences. Others don’t want to leave loved ones or sometimes even possessions, behind.

Q: So, they can be helped to cross over?

A: Yes, with a little finesse, gaining of trust and trying to be understanding and sympathetic. If they were religious, you can ask them to pray with you. There are many ways of doing this. Sometimes it works and every once in a while, it doesn’t.

Q: Well, thank you Michelle for putting up with my questions and maybe we can do this again sometime?

A: I’d like that.
