CCerberus- Mythological three headed dog guarding the gates of Hell to ensure that no one can leave. Changelings- In Scottish lore, the substitution of a little old manniken of the elf race for a young child. Chant- A simple melody in which a varying number of are sung or intoned on each note. Chants are popular in many religions and are sometimes used in Satanism or witchcraft. Cherubim- Order of Angel, celestial being usually depicted as a beautiful, winged child. Occasionally depicted as being half human and half animal. They are rated second in the hierarchy of Angels. Circumambulation- Ceremonially surrounding an object or living thing for the purpose of protection. Clairaudient- Psychic ability to hear sounds or voices inaudible to the normal ear. These voices may appear as thoughts placed in ones head although in most cases, the sounds or voices appear to come from the outside. Clairsentient- Psychic ability to feel things not normally felt by most people. Clairvoyant- Psychic ability to see persons or events which are distant. Children are naturally clairvoyant up to the age of 12. Conjuring- Any attempt to call upon spirits to help the living, usually for the purpose of hurting or killing someone or for personal gain. In most cases, the summoned spirits are usually demons. However, there are some cases where human spirits are conjured up. This is usually unintentional and the human spirit responds simply out of opportunity. Coven- A group of occult practitioners. It is said that witches and Satanists work in covens. Covens usually consist of 13 people. In the case of Satanism, this is done to mock the Christian numbers of Jesus and his twelve disciples. Craft- Short for witchcraft. (See Wicca) Crisis Apparition- An out of body experience whereby one travels at a time of crisis or death to another person. This is usually a relative or loved one. Cryptesthesia- Abilities or perceptions of things not known to us through use of the normal senses. Crystal Gazing- A mode of divination using crystals, water or mirrors. (See Scrying.) Crystallomancy- Similar to crystal gazing, this is a form of divination using crystals shaped like a globe. Cults- Any group gathering as a religious or pseudo-scientific organization which use ceremonies as a form of worship. Curse- To speak a wish of evil against someone or call down forces to hurt someone. Parapsychologists and other scientists believe that curses works only through the power of suggestion. |
